The background of actor, writer and director Dave West dates back to when he took his first acting class. His talent shone early when he won Best Actor in the American College Theater Festival with his performance of Griever in the Craig Lucas play, Blue Window, and was nominated for the prestigious Irene Ryan acting award.
His theatre background includes acting and directing theatre in Arizona, Los Angeles and Off-Broadway in New York.
After attending New York’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts, West’s acting relocated him to Los Angeles where he acted and produced several theatrical plays and showcases as well as pounding the pavement auditioning for film and television. After years as an actor and seeking to expand his opportunities, West made the switch to the other side of the camera. He learned everything from mixing audio and shooting camera to writing and producing, all the while trying to achieve his ultimate goal, directing.
He co-wrote, produced and starred in Day Guy, an independent television sitcom pilot. His first effort at directing was the comedic short Puddlejumper, which screened in over 70 festivals in seven countries and winning multiple festival awards. His second short, The Do Over extensively traveled the international film festival circuit.
In addition to playing the part of Artie Spires, he produced and directed the “Behind the Scenes” for BachelorMan. This lead to commercial directing and directing the web series On the Verge of a Wigout for Warner Brothers.
